The Pita Pit

Hello everyone. I know its been awhile but I’m back and bringing you something fresh. I went to the Pita Pit in Fargo recently and boy was I pleasantly surprised.

Atmosphere – 4/5

When you walk in you are greeted by brightly colored walls with various foods proposed as cartoons. Overall its a pretty fun and easy going atmosphere with ample amounts of seating.

Service – 3/5

The service is not bad but its also nothing special. The pita makers are friendly and are focused on making your pita exactly the way you want it. The prices are fair and very comparable to other sandwich/sub places. One thing I do really like is how they wrap your pita and then put a napkin around the outside. Not only do you have your napkin if things get messy but you are able to unwrap and eat your pita with ease. If you can’t finish it all its not a chore to wrap it back up and save it for later.

Variety – 3/5

Pita Pit has the same types of sandwiches you would expect to find at other comparable places. However, every Pita Pit has a area specific sub which is a neat flavor. They also have a lot more meat and veggie options to choose from compared to the Subway competitor.

Taste – 5/5

I honestly don’t know what it is, nor could I even begin to explain it but the overall taste of Pita Pit can be expressed in one word. FRESH. Every pita I have consumed from Pita Pit has always tasted fresh, as if the vegetables were just brought from the fields to my pita. Not only does everything taste fresh but it also feels healthy. Even though Subway portrays itself as a healthy eating establishment, I have never felt like I was eating healthy as I devoured a sub from Subway. With Pita Pit its a different story. It tastes fresh, feels healthy, and is just plain delicious.

So the next time your roaming around Fargo dive on into the pit. The Pita Pit that is.

Spicy Pie. Jana’s version

Hey everyone! I just wanted to give you my review of Spicy Pie. I went to the one on Broadway.

Atmosphere-3

I walk in and it’s a pretty small joint. It was kinda cool because I saw some guy throw a pizza crust in the air to prepare it to cook. It had an industrial feel to me, lots of metal and stuff.

Service-4

You place your order, and the staff did a descent job. I really liked that they brought your pizza to your table. And it was really well priced.

Variety -2

It’s a pizza place. So they have pizza….and dessert.

Taste – 2

I didn’t like the pizza that much. I mean it was fine because I didn’t pay very much for the pizza, but it wasn’t that tasty. We had these dessert bites and those were super yummy. I wasn’t really into the pizza. My slice has a huge bubble in the crust and then there wasn’t any cheese on top of that so it was just basically crust.

See you soon!

TGI Friday’s

This weekend I hit up TGI Friday and it was an interesting experience. This experience made me realize how tricky places are when they don’t place prices on their drinks in the menu… because then they can trick you into an 8 dollar drink… GRRR. 😛

Atmosphere -4

I really enjoyed being in the restaurant. They have crazy mural things on the wall that are made up of lots of random things like a Jaws poster and a drum and Gumby. The staff was nice and they made it easy to dine there.

Service-3

I was a little disappointed because the kitchen took forever to get our food out to us. I don’t know if it was because they were missing a cook or what the deal was, but our waitress was very nice and kept us up to date on where are food was.

Variety-4

They had a lot of different options. They had pasta and seafood and burgers and ribs and chicken. TGI Friday’s had a lot of choices, so everyone could find something that they liked.

Taste-4

I had this spinach flat-bread dish, and a pulled pork burger. It was very yummy. It was their chose two for ten deal.

Overall, I probably would have been way more upset with the hour wait if I would have been on a date or something, but because I was with good people and we were having a good time bonding… It didn’t really matter to us that much.

See you soon!

Have a smashing time at Smash Burger

Hello everyone. It’s been a while since the last time I posted a review, and for that I apologize. But since we are here to talk food places, I recently visited Smash Burger in Fargo with my family while they were in town. And lets just say that everyone left with full and happy bellies.

Atmosphere – 3/5

The Atmosphere at Smash Burger is what you would expect from a sit down burger type joint. When its busy there is slim to no seating, unless its the summer and you can find a spot outside. The walls are pretty plain with oversized statements and words such as “Smash Burger” or “Savor” set in red, white, or black. Other than that the booths are pretty comfy, if you worry about that sort of thing, and the you will most definitely be able to sit down and enjoy the restaurant while chowing down on your delicious burger.

Service – 4/5

The service at Smash Burger is quite pleasant. The staff is very friendly and overall pretty cheery. They bring your food out to your table and clean up the table when you leave. Can’t get any better than that!

Variety – 5/5

I give Smash Burger a 5/5 on variety because….well…. its just so different from all the other burger places in our area. Before Smash Burger we only had Five Guys, which is a comparable burger joint to Smash Burger but is a little more on the traditional side of things. Smash Burger however has there own spin on french fries, they call them Smash Fries, which are tossed with rosemary, olive oil and garlic and create a very unique taste. They also have Sweet Potato Fries and Sweet Potato Smash Fries. As far as the burgers go, you can make your own beef or chicken burger creation or pick from one of there per-established concoctions. If you would like to see everything they offer check out the printable menu for the Fargo Smash Burger.

Taste – 4/5

At any of the build your own meal type places you are always able to tailor what your order towards your specific taste buds. And that’s always a nice thing for picky eaters who generally don’t like trying new things. So I say onto you all you picky eaters. Go on over to Smash Burger and make yourself a delicious burger. I  say this because my Dad is both a picky eater and hates trying new things. He absolutely loved Smash Burger, and that’s saying something. But on a serious note, Smash Burger has some of the best burgers I had the pleasure of devouring in the area. And with all the places to grab a bite to eat in Fargo that involve burgers I definitely think Smash Burger should be the next on your list.

Extreme Pita

So my friend Laura and I checked out Extreme Pita in Moorhead by Sun mart. It was a pleasant surprise. It was very tasty!

Atmosphere- 3

It was very clean, white walls, and clean tables. The layout is like any other sandwich shop. The “pita” bar and then the tables in the front.

Service-4

The staff was very helpful because neither of us had been there before. They were nice and let me know of all my options.

Variety-2

If you want pita bread…you go there. They don’t have a lot of variety. You go there because you are craving some pita. I also didn’t like that they had pepsi products 😛 (YAY SPRITE!)

Taste-5

I was floored. It was so tasty-good. It was some kinda of chicken wrap. It was fantastic, seriously if you ever go there. GET IT!

See you soon!

Pumpkin Pie? How about Spicy Pie?

Right about now most of as are all looking forward to Halloween and Thanksgiving. And with Thanksgiving comes a host of delicious Thanksgiving foods. One of those foods being Pumpkin Pie. And although Pumpkin Pie is mind-blowingly delicious, and many of us are thinking of nothing more. I would like to encourage people to gather up their sense of adventure and head on over and try something new at the FM Spicy Pie. You can find Spicy Pie at any of these two locations.

Atmosphere – 5/5

The atmosphere at Spicy Pie is truly something to be experienced. The walls are covered by art done by artists around the area as well as signatures, sayings, and pictures drawn on by past customers. Each table is different and has fun things for you to look at while your enjoying your delicious meal. The menu is written on a chalk board and instantly gives the customer a sense that Spicy Pie is going to be a fun and enjoyable place to dine.

Service – 4/5

The employees at Spicy Pie are always friendly and really seem to enjoy their jobs there. They always great you with a smile and make sure that you are getting exactly what you ordered. Only once has my order at Spicy Pie been screwed up and it wasn’t even my order. I had been given what I ordered as well as what another gentleman ordered. I noticed that I had been given to much and asked the gentleman waiting if I had revived his order. With a smile, the man said yes that is my order but you go ahead and enjoy the extra food. The spicy Pie employee apologized to both us and assured me that I would not be charged for the extra food that was given to me. Overall it was still a very good experience. I mean, hey you can’t argue with extra food!

Variety – 4/5

If your going to Spicy Pie your more than likely going to get pizza, but they also have tacos, grinders, tostadas, salads, and a array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The pizza is a New York style pizza and aside form the standard choices of pizza toppings you may also choose to pick your own tailoring the pizza slices to you. Also when ordering pizza you don’t actually get a whole pizza. Its by the slice, and although this may sound unappealing, keep in mind a Spicy Pie slice is about the size of a paper plate. If you would like to know more about what Spicy Pie has to offer, one should really take a look at their menu.

Taste – 5/5

Aside from everything else we have went over so far taste is what makes Spicy Pie stand out the most. It’s simply delicious, and this is a feeling that is mutual between anyone that has visited Spicy Pie. I haven’t found one person that had something negative or “meh” to say about Spicy Pie. It truly is one of those local hole-in-the-wall pizza places that will keep you coming back for more. And on that note I say on to you “Put away those thoughts of Pumpkin Pie just for a second and delve on into the deliciousness that is Spicy Pie.”

My version of BWW’s

Hey everyone!

So I know that Justin already wrote about Buffalo Wild Wings….  But i want to tell you about my experiences with bdubs. (Isn’t it confusing that they have all of these names for the same restaurant?) I hope you guys don’t think I’m lame for doing the same restaurant.

Atmosphere-5

I love the atmosphere there. I dig sports, and it’s awesome to go to bdubs and be able to watch 4 different baseball games all at one time!

Service- 3

The reason that I gave the waitstaff an average score, is because I have had non consistent service there. If you go with a small group of people, the waitress’s are really attentive and nice. If you go to bdubs with a large group, the waitstaff forgets things you want…it takes a really long time to get your food to you, and they don’t do they best job.

Variety-4

BWW’s really surprised me because I usually think of this place as a place for meat lovers, but they have some vegetarian options too. They have lots of different kinds of sauce that you can put on your  wings. For the food they have, they have lots of different ways to personalize your food. (like the variety of sauces)

Taste-4

I really like their boneless wings. All of the food I have had there has been really yummy. Even the chips and salsa were tasty.

See you soon!

Thursday is the day to get some wings

WOOOOOOOOO! it’s Wednesday and its supposed to snow tomorrow! “I love the snow” And you know what tomorrow is? It’s Thursday. Which happens to be the best day to head on out to Buffalo Wild Wings at any of their three locations in Fargo/Moorhead. Thursday is the best day to go to Buffalo Wild Wing, or BDUBS as some like to call it, because that’s when they have Boneless Thursdays were boneless wings are $0.60 a piece. They also have Wing Tuesdays were traditional wings a $0.60 a piece. But lets set those factors aside and talk about what makes Buffalo Wild Wings a great place to chow down on some wings, have a few beers, and watch some sports.

Atmosphere – 4/5

The Atmosphere is what you would expect from a sit-down grill and sports bar type restaurant. The walls are filled with different sized TV’s all viewing different sporting events going on so no matter where you get seated you will be able to view any one of the events you are interested in. The seating area is split between the bar section and then the regular seating section. However, in the case of the Moorhead location, there is also a upstairs bar seating area that you can reserve for parties or large group events. At night the lights are dimmed but not to the point that you can’t see. Just enough to give off the darker sports bar feel. There is plenty of ampul seating for small and large groups of people and overall is a great place to go with a group of friends to watch some sports and get some grub.

Service – 5/5

The service I have encountered at Buffalo Wild Wings has been nothing short of excellent. There is always someone there to greet you at the door. Servers are polite, friendly, caring, and aren’t afraid to joke around a little. Your orders are taken at a prompt pace and your food is usually on the table withing 5-10 minutes. During the meal, servers will check up on you in a timely manner as if not to bug you to soon but also not coming by at the last minute while in the mean time you have finished your meal waiting for another drink. The tabs are presented to you when your ready to leave and you will always be thanked when walking out the door. Overall it is a great experience.
Variety/Taste – 5/5

On this review I’m going to cover taste and variety in one fowl swoop. Because Buffalo Wild Wings tailors your order to your tastes its hard to pin point taste and variety because for each person it could be different. How this works is when you order wings you have a 16 different sauces and 4 different dry rubs to choose from all ranging from their very wild to their hottest, which happens to be blazn’. its because of this array of choices that I cover taste and variety in the same category. The variety is great as far as the different flavors of wings but BDUBS also has burger, sandwiches, salads, desserts, and a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Thus the variety is vast and the taste is all up to you. Order something that sounds like it will tickle your taste buds and strike your fancy.

I hope you enjoyed my short review of Buffalo Wild Wings. Until next time.

Applebee’s

I went to Applebee’s with a group of 12.

Atmosphere-4

I really enjoyed our time at Applebee’s. I like that they have lots of TVs around their bar, so I can watch the Twins WIN! (or lose) It was pretty late at night, so it seemed like the dinner rush was over, and it was really chill.

Service-5

I was really impressed considering we were a group of 12. When all of our party arrived we only had to wait like 3 minutes before they had pushed tables together for us. It was super nice. The waiter did a very good job of pacing out the meal, and getting all of our drinks to us. It took them three people to carry out all of our food to us, but they prepared all of our food in a nice amount of time, and made sure that everyone had food before they went back to the kitchen.

Variety-4

Applebee’s has a lot you can choose from. Most of us took advantage of their ‘half price appetizers’ after nine p.m., but if you wanted a meal they have a lot to choose from. They have signature drinks and desserts if you are into that.

Taste-2

Now the reason why they are scoring so low in taste for me is because I ordered Mozzarella sticks, and they were caked in grease. I could feel my arteries clogging up. Usually, they aren’t that bad, but for some reason that night they were just icky.

See you soon!
